It works! (Kinda) – Semi-sturdy plastic with a nice hanging clip. Packaging was damaged but I can chalk that up to Amazon being cheap and hiring contractors to run deliveries. One side slices bags open (still haven’t used that feature once) and the other seals of course. Well, you’d think it’d seal the bag, but there’s always gaps. I consistently have to run the thing over my bags 3-4 times to get a PASSABLE seal. I’ve practiced for far longer than I care to admit, and I’ve decided at this point it’s fair to partially blame the product. This is cheaper and much nicer than having a zillion “chip-clips” laying around my kitchen. Give it a try and if you don’t like it the company has a decent return policy. I have a feeling by the end of your test drive you’ll come to the same conclusion as me, it’s a fancy and semi-pretentious tool designed to do one thing that can be achieved with scotch tape, but once you have it it’s nice enough to keep 😉

Even if the bag gets cut, it is still sealed – I was initially going to return the item since it was cutting the bag instead of sealing it. I’d also seen other reviews that it was happening to them as well. However, after doing a bit of research on other mini bag dealers, I read that this may be due to the bag being too thin. I tried sealing a chap bag and it worked no problem. The bags I’m trying to seal are doggy bags – I have a tiny dog and I don’t need a full sized bag for him, so I’m a plastic-saving effort, I wanted to cut these bags in half. Though it does cut the bag, the edges are still sealed and it still got the job done. Not the cleanest job, but it works!

I start about an inch in from where I want the seal to start. Then after holding it down for about 5 seconds to heat up, I seal to the other edge. For thicker bags, you need to move slower. For thinner bags, more quickly. If you try to move too slow on thin bags, then you can actually melt holes in the bag. So if you are not sure, start by going quicker and if it doesn’t seal, then go slower. Once it is sealed from where I started, an inch away from the edge, then I go back and seal that gap. It really is easy with a little practice.
