After a ridiculous amount of research I am glad I purchased this toaster oven – I spent hours reading reviews here, as well as Consumer Reports, when it came time to replace my 2006 vintage Cuisinart. I had really hoped to find a compact toaster oven with an interior light, but those only seem to be offered on the larger higher-end models which would not fit in my garage. I had narrowed everything down to Cuisinart or Breville, and decided in the end to go with this one.

Great purchase – Our kitchen countertop space is limited so this compact unit is the perfect fit. We use it every day. But it is hard to find additional bakeware that will fit (the oven does comes with a nice set). You should know that most pans made for toaster ovens are too big. And many toaster oven recipes are made for larger pans that won’t fit. 10×11 is the largest that works. On the plus side, it’s great for roasting vegetables, which caramelize nicely. It doesn’t heat up the house like the oven does, and it preheats much quicker.

Back to Breville – After buying a Cuisinart combo air fryer/ oven which had a thermostat that was 200 degrees off (!!!), and replacing it under warranty twice (!!) I went back to reliable Breville. I had replaced my previous, 10 year old model because it was no longer toasting the upper side of the bread. This new one is still a pretty weak toaster, sometimes I have to run things through a couple of times. But as an oven it’s very reliable, and the addition of the convection function is nice. I guess you get what you pay for.

Glorified toaster – I bought this unit to replace a recently demised unit. This unit has a fan but does not toast as well as my old unit. It will not toast an english muffin in one pass at the highest setting my old unit would. The fan seems to bake items 5 minutes less on 30 minute baking times.
