It cuts down on cooking time for making gravies, boiling eggs, pasta, soups, anything requiring the need for hot water. This is a simple kettle with a good safe top . We use a kettle at least six times a day. – Easy grip top latches well. Tossed a much more expensive farberware because pricier is not always better. I always remove the nylon filter and toss it. Why do some manufacturers want you to boil nylon and plastic? The newer models of Hamilton beach without the nylon left no splash guard holes so that was dangerous . This one is simple . The top is safe easy fill and a good latch so far.
