They almost got it! – I bought this basic model because it doesn’t take much storage space and it has the auxillary hose for sealing jars, etc. This is probably my 3rd Food Saver product and they all work great. This one, I bought primarily to seal jars for dehydrated foods. That is where the 4 stars come in. It works beautifully BUT the design on the hose lost the star. It’s teardrop design makes it very difficult to plug and unplug. Because of the design, it is impossible to get a good grip on it to unplug and since you can only put pressure on one side, it is difficult to seat properly. Please fix this flaw Food Saver!

Old FoodSaver is better, but this is good. – The Biggest difference between this and the old FoodSaver from 15 years ago is the delay. This “manages” the sealing step with countdown timers, which are unnecessarily slow. The timers are probably intended to keep the melting-element from overheating, but nothing was wrong with the old style that blinked and wouldn’t seal until cool enough, and this method is definately slower.
