Works like what you get at a hotpot restaurant – It’s super easy to clean, so far I’ve only used it for hot pot but it is super quick to heat up. Easy to set up as well. It’s definitely big enough to use for 3-4 ppl. Maybe more. If u can fit everyone around the table.

“simmer” means with the lid off (and some other useful tips) – This skillet (really a shabu-shabu pot) and an electric teakettle were my only cooking devices for two full weeks (we had the gas off for a remodel), so I got to know it pretty well. It will do almost anything you ask of it, but you have to know its foibles.

I love it! – I was skeptical from the reviews. I also did not need another one use electric. This pot is great! It cooks soup, grills steak saute vegetables. You name it and it can do it.

Bought for camping, but also serves as a great home skillet – First off, the price clearly justifies itself because this is a quality peice. The metal skillet can be removed when hot, via the insulated handles. It also has a second set of handles so you can move the entire unit while hot. The outer ‘shell’, stays cool. There is no ‘hot bottom’ as with other skillets. I did a test with a full pan of water, and it boiled in less than 10 minutes with the lid on… however, I learned that with the lid off, it will only lightly boil. So, don’t expect a full pan to actually have a ‘rolling boil’. I did try it with about a half inch of oil, and it did get to the highest temp that I set it at within minutes.

I use it for cooking nabe all winter long. I have also sauteed in it when my stove was occupied by too many pots.
