Best sandwiches! – This has become the most used small appliance (after the keurig coffeemaker) in the house! We bought it for me for a Christmas present (hubby didn’t even know what it was) but DH uses it more than I do. We do not preheat it, but start on medium so the cheese has a chance to melt for about a minute, then kick it up to medium high to brown it. Sometimes I turn the sandwich around to get a waffle effect. Yes, the top gets hot, but you wouldn’t put your hand on a hot frying pan either. I like to put a lot more than just cheese on my grilled cheese sandwiches and with a panini grill you don’t lose half the filling trying to flip it. I’ve been looking at these for a couple of years & kept telling myself a frying pan works just as well but this appliance is GREAT! Haven’t done anything more than sandwiches yet but we’ve made plenty of those already. LOVE IT!

Junk! – I’m just really glad I didn’t pay a lot for this. I got it for around $13 when it was on sale (lightening deal), in July. It’s only been used a handful of times (really who makes paninis that much?), and the “non-stick” coating is already coming off in places on the bottom plate. It really never was non-stick anyway. I pulled it out a few days ago, cleaned off the dust on the outside of it, and went to use it. I thought (bad eyes + bad lighting= not always knowing what you’re looking at) someone had forgotten to clean it the last time they used it. I thought there was cheese or something stuck on it, but it wasn’t coming off. I was only using a dish cloth, all that’s ever been used on it. When I looked closer I found the spots you see in the pictures. The little “drip pan” on it is a joke too. #1 it’s pretty small. #2 if anything was going to drip, it would likely drip all around, not on one side. #3 it doesn’t stay on the thing, just kind of sits there. It also smashes things way too thin, but I guess I never really made anything elaborate. Mainly grilled cheeses for the kids, and occasionally a lunch meat and cheese. I guess I got my $13 worth, but really wish I hadn’t even spent that. Definitely don’t recommend!

Great Little Appliance! – I bought this particular panini press due to the small size, which was important to me b/c I don’t have alot of kitchen storage. It is perfect for 2 sandwiches. It has a great non-stick coating which is super easy to clean. I wipe it down with a wet paper towel. So far I have only used it on the highest heat setting and it works fast and produces perfectly crunchy sandwiches on the outside and warm, melted ingredients on the inside. It’s also very attractive with its highly polished chrome exterior.

Hot to the touch on the exterior! – I did not like that is is very hot on the exterior. My kids used my previous Bella brand (cheaper yet I liked it better) on their own because it was safer. Now I am back to making their food unfortunately. I do like that the plates come off this one for cleaning purposes.
