Does the job for a fair price – I was just looking for a low-end, basic, affordable coffee maker, and picked this one based on reviews and Black & Decker reputation and low price. It was easy to set up, simple to use and clean, makes great coffee with no grounds falling through into the coffee pot. It’s also programmable, which we haven’t tried yet, but that was a feature we wanted. We’ve been using the coffee pot now for about 2 to 3 weeks, and it does the job, makes great coffee. I am very satisfied with it.

I got just what I wanted – I was sooooo sad when my 10+ yo Black & Decker SmartBrew Plus broke down. I took my time looking for a replacement and landed on this Black & Decker model for the programmability, the color (not a lot of white programmable coffee makers on market) and relatively less expensive price point. I thought the rubber buttons would be easy to use and they are. Coffee tastes great and is hot. Plus, I have peace of mind on leaving the house since if I forget to shut off this machine it automatically shuts itself off after 2 hours. LED display is green, which I particularly like too. I’m completely satisfied!

Good, but a warning – This is a good, basic machine. I very much like the auto off feature, which is missing from a lot of baseline models. My main issue is that if you don’t place the basket in exactly the right position, the machine will overflow and cause a mess. In my previous Mr. Coffee machines, if the basket was rotated incorrectly, the lid also would not close, so you couldn’t really mess it up. So just be careful that the basket is really in the right place! Flavor is fine. It brews a little loud, but okay. Brews pretty fast, which is great. I wish there was a 8 or 10 cup size, because when you brew a smaller amount it’s hard to make it not too watery, but I don’t want to have two coffee makers on the counter.

Learn this trick before using – Make sure you close the lid and hold it closed when putting the pot in place. I found out that if you put the pot in place before closing the lid, the basket might be not in the correct place. If that happens, the shut-off valve in the basket isn’t open and the basket doesn’t drip into the carafe. This is the reason the lid has a snap close on it. It holds down the basket during the brew. It is a great coffee pot, with one small quirk.
