Great toaster although it wasn’t cheap, it does a super job! – Easy to use does a great job not the cheapest thing out there, but does the best job ever seen!

Beep, Beep, Beep – who was the genius that chose to have loud notification beeps on a breakfast appliance? who needs to be told the toast is finished. just look at the toaster. if the bread is raised up it’s toasted. the whole house doesn’t need to be alerted and woken up.

4-Slice Motorized Toaster – I love that the toaster has so many different settings. You can set the type of bread, the darkness of the toasting and you can even defrost pastries. It does take a few minutes to get used to it. I was surprised that it is recommended to unplug the toaster between uses. I called Cuisinart and was told that if there is a power surge that damages the toaster, it would not be covered under the warranty. Strange. Also, when I tried to register for the warranty, it would not accept the Model # CPT-540. I called and they couldn’t register it either, so they opened an account for me and if I have a problem I will be in their system.

What is the whistle?? – So overall this is a great toaster (so far) but what is the high pitch whistle?? It toasts pretty fast and beeps to let you know it’s done. First 2-3 times using it there was that weird “new electric appliance” smell but that dissappeared pretty quick. My husband is happy it doesn’t take 10 mins to make a bagel anymore and this toaster is definately visually pleasing.

Is it possible to love a toaster? – Seriously, who does that? Well apparently I am not saying I “love” this toaster but I have developed a deep appreciation for it. I have only had this toaster for a few days, but what a difference from my old one! It works like a dream. Finally, I have evenly toasted slices in a very short amount of time. No more waiting and waiting for my toast to be done, constantly checking to make sure it’s not too dark or having to turn the slice to get everything toasted evenly. Needless to say, my old toaster was pretty awful, even though it was from a *top* brand. I kept using it for years because, well, it was supposed to be a *top* brand. How could I aspire to have anything better? I did try to toast using my countertop toaster ovens, thinking that they would be able to get the job done. They didn’t. Plus waiting eleven minutes for toast was ridiculous! I am so glad I decided to purchase this and discard the other. So far I am thrilled with this toaster. It does what it is supposed to do, and besides, it’s fun to watch the slices pop up when they are done. The settings are clearly marked at the top and it is easily programmable for bread type as well as the level of darkness that you prefer. It even chimes when it’s done. What more could you ask for in a toaster? It’s truly got all that and a slice (or more) of bread!

Ehh, it’s OK, but we’re sending it back – I’ll go into my experience with the toaster in a second, but first let me explain why we got this toaster. For the past 5-7 years we’ve had a Kitchen Aid motorized toaster (no levers on the machine, you just pushed what range of toast you wanted and the machine took the toast in and lowered it down – I think I bought it on QVC for something in the price range of $80-100). It was a substantial toaster (weight-wise) with digital buttons to put the toast down, had wide slots like we like (4-slice toaster) and did also make a beeping sound when the toast came up (but nothing as loud as the beeping on this machine). The toaster had a good variety of toasting variations, my husband and I always found Level 3 to be the perfect range of toasting for our tastes. We loved that toaster but it bit the dust a few weeks ago. As soon as it went buh-bye, I jumped onto QVC and Amazon to find something similar (which I cannot seem to find, ugh!).
